Embracing the Outdoors

Embracing the Gift of the Outdoors

What’s the fuss about going outdoors? You could be out sweating in the heat of the sun or freezing in the cold of the night. Why go through the bother when you can spend your day in the mall, see a movie, or party with friends?

Because the outdoors is a gift.

A gift we have largely forgotten. In a world of endless entertainment, technology, and a dizzying pace of life, we have taken for granted this ancient gift that once connected us to Nature – our first source of life and survival.

When you go outdoors, you will be surprised to find that your problems suddenly become trivial. It gives you the chance to pull away from the “thick of things”, away from the hustle and bustle of urban living and have the chance to see things in a different light.

The outdoors is not the frightening, dangerous and uncivilized place that some think it is. Quite the contrary, when you climb a mountain or sleep under the stars, you will see that it is a beautiful, colorful and exciting place to be . There is life flowing freely between man and nature in a harmonious way.

We believe everyone deserves the gift to climb a mountain, to sleep by the beach, to smell the forest, to revel in the beauty of a clear night sky, and to know the wonders of the sea beneath its surface. It is life beyond the mundane and living beyond the usual.

So go ahead. Hike in the rain. Feel the wind in your face. Make new friends and reach for new heights. Dare to explore and go beyond your comfort zones. Find your adventure and never let it go. We hope that you find wonder on every summit, sunrise, and season you experience. We hope you find the gift and see for yourself how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world.

About LiveOutdoorsph

LiveOutdoorsph started as a loose mountaineering group of friends based in Manila, Philippines sometime in 2013. In late 2015, we lunched our site  www.liveoutdoorsph.com to document and make available information about the various Philippine outdoor destinations.

Ultimately, our aim is to make outdoor living a mainstream recreational pursuit.  We also aim to help lesser known destinations get the attention it deserves, thereby promoting local tourism to flourish. Not only will it help local economies, it will also take pressure off well known, heavily visited  destinations, some of which are facing serious ecological threats.

It is also part of our vision to help raise awareness and support for the various environmental initiatives that has worked tirelessly to protect our environment. The effects of the recent abnormal weather disturbances is a glimpse of our grim future if we continue our unsustainable ways.
